My name is Gernot Helmut Rumpler.
Currently I am working as a sportsman in the Austrian army and am a member of the Austrian national sport shooting team.
I was born on 21.02.1994 in Mittersill.
Together with my brother Stefan, I grew up at my parent´s house in Uttendorf.
After 2 years in kindergarten, I began my schooling in 2000 at the primary school of Uttendorf and completed secondary school in 2008.
From 2008 to 2013 I studied weapon engineering at the Higher Technical College in Ferlach/Carinthia.
In the summer of 2001 I attended the "priv. k.u.k Schützenverein Mittersill" shooting club. Hereon started a successful shooting career.
Straight away i had a lot of fun training and competing with my friends, pushing ourselves to world-class level.
By invitation from talentscouts I joined the Leistungszentrum (national sports shooting institution) in Zell am See 2005 under the lead of Franz Wenger. There my skills improved quickly and I was able to celebrate my first big victories.
I qualified for the national junior sports shooting team in 2008. Since then I have been invited to many national and international competitions.
In Bolognia 2012, I claimed my first international gold medal in the 60 shot prone event at the European championships. Following this was a bronze medal win in 3x40 at the ECH, Osijek 2013. At the World championships, Granada 2014 I
finished qualifications as the leader and won a bronze medal in the final.
Entering senior class shooting in 2015 I was able to qualify for the European championships, Maribor.
There I claimed my quota place in the discipline 3x40 for the Olympic Games Rio 2016.
